How Do I Get A Published Book Popular?
If my book got published, how could I get it more popular? Could I do posters? Send letters to newspapers? Ask Magazines to do reviews on it? Or is this going over the top?
By the way my book is finished, I’ve been writing it for 3 years, it’s very detailed and I think it’d interest alot of people, particularly teenagers.
Marketing is perhaps the toughest part of publishing. A book that is not properly marketed is just as good as not having published at all. This is why it is important to map out your publishing plan carefully beforehand.
Your publisher should take care of your marketing your book. Getting your book ‘out there’ is twice as tough when you self-publish, so you will really need a good self-publishing company that will assist you with marketing your book.
I would recommend Xlibris. They have top of the line marketing products and services that will help your book get noticed. You can click here to know more:http://bit.ly/14y3YA
Good luck!
Once your book gets published, your publisher sometimes have marketing services that will help you get your book out there. Besides the distribution your book has already included in your publishing service, make certain that you also are involved in several writer’s groups, etc.
How well a book sells is heavily dependent on what the author’s goals are and how actively they choose to promote their book. Some of our authors are very visible, talking on the radio, organizing book signings, and reaching and exceeding their sales goals. Our higher-selling authors have sold over 5000 copies so far. On the flip side, we have some authors that have only sold a few copies, mostly to friends and family, because that’s all they wanted to sell. We believe our authors will sell more and more copies as we continue to introduce services that will give them the ability to market their books more effectively, but in the long run, sales are a reflection of each author’s goals. If becoming a bestselling author is your goal, you will be working to achieve maximum sales. If you are publishing your family’s history or a personal memoir you may only wish to have your book available to family and friends. How well your book sells is entirely up to you.
I think during the publishing process you have to come up with a platform on how your going to get your book popular, not after. Publishers might handle marketing but some of it is you. I hear that authors create websites, keep blogs, do readings at libraries. Whatever it takes to get your name out there. Submitting it for review is a good idea too. I I think of anything else, I’ll edit.
Edit: The publishers do the bulk of the publicity handling but its very important that you have a platform before you approach them. They want to know what you’re going to do to help out. I’m not sure but I think agents if you get one help with this.
Sell it to a publisher and they will take care of promotion. They send out review copies, pay for magazine ads and all the other stuff.
Anything you do beyond getting a signing at a bookstore locally won’t significantly help your sales. Your expenditures in gas, food, buying posters etc. will never pay itself back.
You CAN have a cheery, entertaining blog and get a website.
But most of all YOU write more books for the publisher to sell for you.
Read the 808 section of your library, as it has all the books on how to write and sell books. You’re essentially going into a small business by becoming a writer, so do your homework so you don’t get ripped off.
Obey YOG’S LAW: “Money flows TOWARD the writer.” You don’t pay to get published or get an agent.

do the posters send the letters to the newspapers and ask magazines to do reviews
First get a publisher, they will promote the book.
Find a publisher and take it from there.
