Affiliate Marketing Tip – Write A Free Ebook

January 22nd, 2010 ipank No comments

Writing a free ebook is a great way to sell more affiliate products. The ebook can work for you in two different ways and I encourage you to use both methods in each free ebook you write.
The first way is to promote affiliate links directly in your ebook where appropriate. You can casually mention a product in the body of a particular chapter, review a product as part of your ebook, or add an “Additional Resources” section to the end of the book.
The second way is to link to your content site from your ebook. You can offer additional information on the site or link to a review page. By sending your readers to your website you get the chance to expose them to additional affiliate products and have the opportunity to get them on your newsletter list.
Let’s take a look at how you can get started on your first ebook. Find a topic that you are fairly knowledgeable about and come up with an overall theme for the book. What are people looking for on the particular topic? For example, parents of infants will be interested in tips and strategies to get their baby to sleep through the night. A mom looking for a work at home job may be interested in how to spot a work at home scam and where to look for legitimate jobs.
Come up with an outline, or group some related articles you have written on a particular topic. Now all you have to do is flesh it out a little bit and of course incorporate your affiliate links. An ebook typically consists of at least 25 pages. That may sound like a lot, but you should keep your font size fairly large to make it easier to read on a computer screen.
Let’s talk about format for a moment. You can purchase software to create an ebook, or you can make it a PDF document. PDF documents will work on just about any computer and people are comfortable downloading them. I usually write my ebooks in Microsoft Word, format it in there, add any pictures or graphics and then turn it into a PFD. You can either do this with Microsoft Acrobat, or use one of the free PDF creation services on the web.
Your next step will be to get the ebook circulating. After all you are not going to make any affiliate sales if no one reads your book. You can offer it as a free download on your site or give it away as a bonus for subscribing to your newsletter. I also like to add a note in the footer of each page that the reader is welcome to pass the book along to others who might be interested in the topic.
Offer the ebook as a free giveaway to other website owners and post it on the free ebook directories. Then sit back and watch the book do the work for you. After a few weeks you should see the affiliate sales come in. Time to move on to another book.

Should I Write a Free Ebook?

January 7th, 2010 ipank No comments

“Well, I have a website/blog/brochure/business card,” you say. And that’s a good thing. You should. They’re all part of your self-marketing efforts. They’re all virtually essential these days. You want to have your information retold, repackaged, and reinvented in various forms, to suit your audience’s content consumption preferences.
So why not take it a step further and turn your singular information, concept, strategy, philosophy, process, or knowledge into an eBook?
Make it interesting. Make it readable. Give it titles and subtitles, sidebars and sass.
Make it easy to download and email.
Share it with people, groups, websites, and associations that would find value in it, or be entertained by it. (Or preferably, both!)
More than anything makes it available…for FREE.
“But, I don’t have time to spend on creating and developing a FREE eBook?!!” you yelp. “Why the heck would I waste my time/energy/billable brain power on that?”
Well, don’t you already?
Don’t you already think about your own passions, ideas, business, systems, or solutions in a fairly obsessive way?
Wouldn’t you like a clean overview of your might and mission to hand off to prospects, fans, clients, consumers, strategic partners, website visitors, email recipients, and accidental tourists so they could sample your wares? Experience your voice and style? Scan over your offerings? Dig into your ideas? Benefit from your expert status?
Essentially, consume a premeditated, decently configured version of YOU?
What’s more, wouldn’t it be valuable to YOU to put your fleeting thoughts and down-the-rabbit-hole analyses into some semblance of order and refined context? Hey – we’re talking a free eBook here. It doesn’t have to be a $20,000 project. Make it neat. Format it nicely. If you can get a designer to help it look good, that’s a plus, but if that’s not possible right now, let it go.
Most importantly – HAVE SOMEONE PROOFREAD IT so you don’t embarrass yourself, or worse, lose business because of grammar, spelling, or blatant nonsensical communication skills.
Earlier this year, we joined forces with a fellow business owner and key strategic partner to create a FREE 18-page Special Report that generated more than $100,000 in new client revenue in less than two months. That little document took us just two weeks to put together. Not bad on the ROI scale, wouldn’t you agree?
Don’t make it harder than it is. If you’ve just got 10 pages, turn it into a Special Report or White Paper. You can always expand or add to it over time.
BOTTOM LINE: People can’t learn to know and love you – your products, services, passion, advice, know-how, brilliance, ideas, insights, offerings, deliverables, voice, style, personality, vision, business, unique promise of value, philosophies, etc. – if you don’t give them anything to know and love.

There are numerous reasons why anyone selling on the internet should write an ebook. I will elaborate on just a few.
Get Traffic to Your Website.
We live in an information world and people want as much information as they can get to help them out in their day to day living. By writing an ebook you provide information that people need. The subject does not matter as long as its on something people want to know about.
Now here is how it benefits you as a internet marketer. Ebooks whether free or paid bring traffic to your website. Free ebooks however, bring enormous traffic to your website because people are always looking for free valuable information.
Advertisment for Other Products
Giving away an ebook you have written is one of the best ways to get free advertisment for your saleable products and services. You can make good money by adding affiliate links to products your are selling. Each time someone purchases via your links, you get paid.
You Become an Instant Expert
The Great thing about writing an ebook is that you become an expert in your chosen subject matter. People are generally more willing to purchase from someone they consider to be an expert. The recommendation of an author is believed to be more valuable than that of someone who has never written on a particular subject. That’s why experts make a lot more money than others.
Allow Your Ebook to Become Viral
Allow other people give away your ebook. This will increase visitors to your website. Now here’s something you can do to make some real good money. If you have a product you have created or have exclusive rights to then what you need to do is set up an affiliate program for your product. Place a link inside your free ebook to that product. Direct people to join your affiliate program and allow them to modify the link to their affiliate link. By doing this you create sales and increase your affiliate network.
Build Your Subscriber List
By giving away a free ebook you can grab new leads to promote your business too. When people sign up to get your free ebook they are required to give their contact information before the ebook can be downloaded. The one thing most internet marketers will tell you is that the money is in the list. Every time you give away your free ebook, you increase the size of your email list.
Conclusion
Every internet marketer should write an ebook. I have listed just a few of the reasons why. You can build a very lucrative business around ebooks you write. Just remember that giving away an ebook can help make you loads of money.
